Although I prefer not to write about politics, the radically reversed situation in the USA makes me wonder what will happen here in Europe. I don’t think it will be as simple as “will Europe follow suit or not”. Europe is not the same as America and has her own path to follow. As I see it, Europe is standing at a crossroads. We could go either way: a more totalitarian approach and a complete suppression of dissent, or a collapse of the current political class and a growing influence of Russia. Of course there are (infinitely) more options, but these are the two that I would like to explore here.
I don’t put much store into looking at the future by extrapolating from what has happened before: there are always a myriad of little and big things happening that are not taken into account and that will lead to things that “no one could have foreseen”. Instead, as an experiment of faith, I would like to compare two prophecies about Europe. Prophecies work the other way around: you take an end point and you speculate how current events might lead up to that point. Here, I will look at the prophecies of the clairvoyant Baba Vanga, who lived from 1911 to 1996 in Bulgaria, and compare or combine them with the Secrets of Our Lady of Fátima.
Our Lady of Fátima
Our Lady of Fátima, the canonically crowned image in the Chapel of Apparition
In 1917 Mary, Mother of Christ, was said to have appeared to three children in Fátima, Portugal. She appeared to them six times between April 13th and October 13th 1917. Most pertinent to Her appearance was Her call to consecrate Russia to Her. If Russia was consecrated, She assured the children, there would be peace in Europe (for a time). Of course she made her request before the Bolsheviks came to power in Russia and it is likely she was referring to the coming of Communism in Russia. However, three consecutive popes have taken it upon themselves to indeed consecrate Russia as per Her request, after World War II. The question that keeps a lot of Catholics awake at night is whether these consecrations adhered closely enough to Her specifications to make them valid.
In 1952, Pope Pius XII consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but he did not specifically mention Russia by name. Some believe this was a partial fulfillment of the request, but others argue that it was not sufficient because Russia was not named explicitly, as Our Lady of Fátima requested. The official Vatican position has been that this consecration was valid, but critics believe it did not fully meet the criteria of the vision.
Perhaps the most famous and significant consecration, was that of Pope John Paul II in 1984, as it took place in the context of the 1981 assassination attempt on the pope’s life. After surviving the attempt, John Paul II publicly proclaimed that the consecration had been done according to Our Lady's wishes, and many saw this as a successful act. The formula of the consecration included a prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and a reference to the world, but it did not explicitly name Russia. There has been much debate over whether this omission still fulfilled the specific request.
The current Pope Francis did perform a consecration of Russia and Ukraine in 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine, once again invoking the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Many saw this as a response to the unfolding events in Ukraine but also noted the continued lack of a direct consecration of Russia alone.
The consecration of Russia is relevant today because of the Third Secret of Fátima. One of the three children who saw Mary at Fátima, Sister Lucia, revealed in her memoirs the secrets that Mary told them. The first secret is about a vision of Hell. The children were shown the suffering of the souls in Hell, and were urged to pray for them. The Second Secret is the request for the consecration of Russia. If her requests were heeded, Russia would be converted, and there would be peace; if not, Russia would spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Catholic Church. The vision culminated with a promise that in the end, the Immaculate Heart would triumph. The Holy Father would consecrate Russia to Mary, and a period of peace would be granted to the world.
The third Secret is the one that is I would like to talk about here: it is a a vision of the death of the Pope and other religious figures, and was transcribed by the Bishop of Leiria and reads:
"After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!' And we saw in an immense light that is God: 'something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White 'we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'. Other Bishops, Priests, Religious men and women going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, religious men and women, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God." (Wiki)
The Third Secret was originally a four-page handwritten document. Although the Vatican asserts that the full text was disclosed, others, such as Father Paul Kramer (author of “The Mystery of Iniquity”) say there is more that was kept secret, and that this part pertains the apocalypse.
It is the Third Secret that I think is relevant for our age, together with the question whether any of the three times a pope consecrated Russia, actually fulfilled Her request. It might just have: after all, Russia did leave atheistic communism behind and President Putin now likes to portray Russia as the defender of conservative Christian values. If Russia’s influence over Europe is allowed to grow, would that mean that Europe will return to Christianity and the Peace, that Mary promised will ensue? Or have the consecrations failed and will the horrors of the Third Secret enfold?
Baba Vanga’s prohecies
Now where it becomes really interesting is when we look at the prophecies from Baba Vanga and compare them to Our Lady of Fátima’s Secrets. Although the prophecies of Baba Vanga are of a completely different kind: they are not in any way religious or Christian and are rather cryptically formulated hints about geo-political advents in the future. Many of her predictions have already come true. They are said to have a 85% accuracy!
Baba Vanga, born as Vangeliya Pandeva Surcheva, 3 October 1911
Baba Vanga was born in 1911 in Bulgaria. When she was 12, she was caught in a whirlwind that left her covered with dust and debris. Her eyes were damaged and gradually she became blind. But her blindness opened her senses to other visions and that is when she became a seer. She accurately predicted the fall of the Soviet Union, the Chernobyl disaster, the date of Stalin’s death, the date of her own death, 9/11, the 2004 boxing day tsunami and many more. She made predictions well into the future, with 5079 as the end of the world (but not per se of humanity). She also made predictions that have not come true: although she correctly stated that the 44th President of the USA would be African-American, she also said it would be America’s last president. She also foretold there would be a nuclear war in Europe from 2010 to 2016.
For 2025 she predicted widespread floods, earthquakes and a decimation of the European populace (Deagle report anyone?). However grim, this is not what I would like to focus on here. The one that caught my eye was the prophecy that in 2043 Europe will be predominantly Islamic and the Caliphate would be announced, centered in Rome. There are a few key elements in this prediction:
Islamic Europe: This could be interpreted as Europe undergoing a significant demographic and cultural shift, potentially due to large-scale immigration from Muslim-majority countries or a greater conversion to Islam within Europe itself. The idea of Europe becoming Muslim might reflect the growing influence of Islam in the region, although whether it will be in the form of a political "takeover" or more gradual cultural and demographic shifts is unclear.
Declaration from Rome: The specific mention of Rome is noteworthy, as it is the seat of the Vatican and the Pope. If this event were to take place in 2043, the "declaration from Rome" could be symbolic, representing a major change in the religious landscape of Europe. It could also be a foretelling of the events described in Third Secret of Fátima.
Two distinct scenario’s
If we combine the two prophecies of Fátima and Baba Vanga, two distinct scenario’s can be made out :
The first is scenario is that Russia is successfully consecrated and conquers Europe and brings Christianity and Peace. This could be in line with Russia’s increasingly vocal role as a defender of traditional Christian values (as expressed through Putin’s policies and the close relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the state). In this scenario, Russia would not only become a spiritual powerhouse but also play a leading role in restoring Christian values to a Europe that has become increasingly secular and morally fragmented. From a prophetic perspective, this aligns with Our Lady of Fátima’s message that Russia, once consecrated, would act as an instrument for peace and the renewal of the faith. However, this "conquest" wouldn't necessarily be violent but could be seen as Russia exerting political and spiritual influence, drawing Europe back to Christianity. This might resemble Russia’s current stance of pushing back against the moral and ideological influence of the West, positioning itself as a protector of traditional family values and a bulwark against what it sees as Western secularism.
In the other scenario the consecration of Russia failed, leading to the European Caliphate in 2043, and the fulfilling of the Third Secret of Fátima: If the consecration of Russia is not fulfilled and Fátima’s prophecy remains unheeded, the Third Secret’s forewarning of a spiritual crisis and persecution within the Church could come to pass. This may involve the decline of Christianity in Europe and the rise of Islamic influence, potentially culminating in the type of Islamic dominance foreseen by Baba Vanga. In this scenario, Christianity in Europe could face severe existential challenges, much like the catastrophic consequences described in the Fátima vision, where the Church’s survival would be under direct threat.
The present day situation
Although the spirit of “woke-ism” in de USA seems to be broken, for now, I don’t think the same can be said for Europe. In Germany, where elections are scheduled for the 23rd of February, hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets to protest “anything on the right”. The protests are centering mainly on whether unlimited immigration is a good thing or not. The left, which is in power (also in the EU), has already indicated that any election outcome it doesn’t like will be called invalid. The Covid debacle has shown us that the authorities do not shy away from using brute force against the people, and I do believe they will do so again to remain in power. They also seem to want to protect the rights of Muslims at all cost. This will lead us well under way to Baba Vanga’s prophecy of a European caliphate for 2043.
If this happens, I would like to highlight one little hopeful bit of Our Lady of Fátima’s predictions: She said in Portugal the dogma’s of the Faith will always be kept. So whoever doesn’t really covet the prospect of living under sharia rule, should probably consider moving to Portugal!
On the other hand, if Russia breaks through in Ukraine, and if the German state finally starts to realize its predicament in terms of energy needs, a peace between Europe and Russia may be forged. If this happens, maybe we do see a successful consecration of Russia at work, and traditional values and Christianity may return to Europe, and Baba Vanga’s prediction of 2043 might be consigned to the scrap heap after all.
Our Lady of Fátima urged us all to pray with all of our hearts so that we might have peace. I think, after all, this is the most sensible thing we can do right now.

“The Mystery of Iniquity” bij Father Paul Kramer. This is a very important book, not just for anyone trying to get a better understanding of the Secrets of Fatima, but for a very deep and startling deconstruction of current events. Much recommended!
We are in agreement once again Robyn! Thank you for your nuanced comment. I wish you wouldn't live on the other side of the world so I could invite you for coffee! ☕ ♥️
Hi, I'm not a religious person, but I've done a lot of religious reading in my time! I am also interested in predictions of various sorts.
Basically, knowing what humans are like, and judging by History, Peace, if it comes at all, only comes for short periods of time, and usually at great cost, including much loss of life. Peace never stays for long, so I don't think it matters whether Christianity or Islam is in top position in Europe. Any which way, plenty of people will be unhappy!
Too much immigration in Europe has not been helpful. In fact, too much immigration anywhere is not good. When the 'locals' in an area (whoever they may be) are outnumbered by ring-ins, then discord is almost a guarantee. 'Might is Right' as the saying goes - but of course it's often not. It's just that lots of people make the issue SEEM right.
I think any place in the world where there are too many ring-ins and/or tribal warfare is apparent and/or migrants are not assimilating, then trouble will not be far behind.
